Yukon NVRS Titanium 1.5x42 Night Vision Rifle Scope, Weaver Mount

Mount ScopeCustomer Reviews:* I am an avid hog hunter, and have dispatched literally scores of porcine abominations over the years in the piney woods of East Texas. The problem with hog hunting is that even though there is no defined season, hunting in the summer in Texas can be brutal. Additionally it is difficult, since hogs will hide during the heat of the day and only come out at night. With all of this said, I was anxious to add night vision capability to my arsenal; however, I didn't want to take out a second mortgage to do so. I had read numerous arm-chair commandos on internet boards that suggested that Gen 1 night vision was absolutely useless, and you would be better off purchasing a good flashlight.Well I can tell you, in my experience, this is very far from the truth when it comes to Yukon optics.I first purchased, in order to try it out, a Yukon 4 power, 50mm objective monocular. I was sold, it worked wonderfully, and the IR illuminator lit things up like day. With that experience under my belt I stepped up and bought this 1.5x42 scope. I mounted it on an AR-15 and also purchased and mounted a streamlight 850nm (infrared) strion light. What a combo! I have killed several hogs in the pitch black of night, even out to 100 yards. With the Streamlight, I am able to shoot for groups at 100 yards, no problem. The scope is smaller and lighter than most Gen 1 abominations. It seems tough as nails (I haven't torture tested it or anything) and battery life is excellent.I couldn't be happier with my foray into the night vision game. I can honestly say that this product can be used in actual hunting conditions and perform. * Very happy with the Yukon NVRS 1.5x42. The image was clearer than I expected for a Gen 1 scope and was easy to sight in both during the day with the cover down and at night. I used Gen1 night vision scopes quite a bit while I was in the military and would put this up against them for gain and clarity. I can easily see 150 yards with the IR illuminator turned on during in almost total darkness and have watched the deer around my house at night feeding. The deer did notice the illuminator when it was pointed directly at them, so if your goal is to be covert you'll want to look into either a filter for the built in illuninator or purchase a separate "no glow" IR light.
