Medline Weil Knee Walker, Burgundy
Customer Reviews:* I bought this following foot surgery. I had rented an Invacare knee walker which was a disaster--unstable, poor turning, and brakes which did not work well. I returned it and bought this Weil Knee Walker. The difference was amazing. The Weil Knee Walker is very stable, easy to turn even in tight places, brakes are very reliable. I have noticed, however, that in none of the specifications shown does it show the width of the front wheel assembly. I didn't think about checking that. As it turns out, the knee walker will not go through our bathroom doorways (house built in 60's)--a definite disadvantage. The knee rest height adjustment wasn't exactly right for me. One height was slightly too high and the next lower was slightly too low. When you look at the height increments under the seat, they look small, but as you adjust them the ratio is larger than it appears.B/c of lack of mobility (balancing on 1 leg), someone has to put it into a car for me and take it out. Folding it down to load does not seem to be a problem.I would definitely recommend this walker b/c of it ease of movement, stability, the basket and brake system.* I am a middle aged woman, fractured my left heel falling from a horse less than 2 weeks ago. I'll write more as I try this out.Received quickly: in less than a week. Free Shipping.Assembly: put the basket on, hang the cup holder and put the knee pad on. I sat on the floor with my bum leg, pulled it out of the box and put the pad on it, 4 screws.I ordered this walker b/c I want to be outside and was worried about the reviews about people falling over with the others. Poor lady that fell in the parking lot and broke her wrist, and people falling and reinjuring themselves. They have sent me the Gen 2 version. We'll see if the weight is a problem. I drive an F250 diesel, it is a pain getting in and out of it anyway....the next adventure begins.Went outside yesterday, they need an all terrain version with a little bit fatter wheel. I'm satisfied though. I'm not gliding over the grass but I feel safe, our yard isn't a smooth subdivision yard either. The wheels switch from turn to swivel with a dial on the top of the handle bars, handle bars won't do the turn motion when in swivel, you have to use the swivel action of the wheel but it gives for small turning radius. Takes a little getting use to. I am maneuvering in a very small area inside but I dont care, I'll back out of tight places, the swivel actions helps with this. Had to get someone to take it up and down the stairs b/c I don't have a ramp. It is so nice to get off the crutches. As far as the company, I looked at the wheels on the models before ordering. I ordered the older version b/c the wheels looked bigger, I got the newer version. I emailed the company...useless. Send it back and have to pay a 20% restocking fee. The other didn't mention the swivel wheels and I wanted to opt out of that. The walker is sturdy, the swivel wheels are a nice option, brakes work so far. I feel safe outside going between rabbit/chicken cages, checking to see how they all are. Next is to figure out how I can weed my garden. Nice tight turning radius with the swivel wheels.Update: 5/4/13 I have never loaded this knee walker and taken it to the store, I use the carts available or a wheelchair. My yard is unlevel but I pick the best path and work from there. Steps are located in the front and back entrance and with effort I get it down the stairs but can't up. The swivel wheels are excellent, make maneuverability in tights spaces easy. I have been on crutches for almost 6 weeks, nonweight bearing.....get you a pair of padded weight lifting gloves to use with your crutches. Bought a pair from Walmart, wish I would have done this sooner. The scooter, very satisfied and would recommend and purchase again.
