AeroBed Extra Bed with Built-In Pump, Twin

AeroBedCustomer Reviews:* First, let me say that air mattresses do not last forever. Sometimes they don't even last for a year, but I prefer the comfort of an Aerobed over a traditional mattress, so I put up with the notion that these are essentially disposable products. In fact, it was when I was in the midst of some significant back pain that I first tried an Aerobed years ago. The result was a big improvement in controlling that pain. The shortest amount of time one of my Aerobeds lasted was about eighteen months, when it sprung a leak. Others have lasted for several years before doing likewise. Keep in mind, this was with nightly use and I'm not an itty-bitty thing. There are patches you can use to repair leaks on air mattresses, but finding the leak is no easy job. It can be as tiny as a pinhole. Life is too short to look for those pinholes when you can just replace the mattress for very little money. The search for a leak involves putting detergent along the seams and looking for bubbles which is harder and more time-consuming than it sounds. When my first Aerobed failed, I bought another brand and hated it. It wasn't as comfortable and it made noise whenever I moved. Very annoying. After that I stuck to the Aerobed brand until last week. My bed sprung a leak late at night and I went out to buy a replacement at an all-night department store. It was where I had purchased my previous Aerobeds, but they no longer had any in stock. I picked up another brand instead, one that carried the name of a traditional mattress producer. I hated it -- not comfortable at all, and just as noisy as that earlier off-brand I'd purchased.I found an Aerobed here on Amazon and ordered it. It arrived today. First thing I did was check it out. That good ol' comfort was back! I put the much more expensive, famous-mattress-maker brand out with the trash. I know my new Aerobed won't be around forever, but I also know I'm going to appreciate whatever service life it delivers. This model is different from the other earlier Aerobed mattresses I've owned. There's no longer a separate pump that connects to the mattress. An inflation/deflation button is built in. It's much easier to use than the previous models. I consider this a giant leap in customer-friendly design. Thank you, Aerobed! If you decide to make an air mattress your permanent bed, here's some advice for getting the most comfortable use out of it: get one of those mattress/boxspring frames. Add a box spring for height. Then add a bed board to protect the air mattress from the springs. Then add one of those egg crate foam mattress toppers (which, in this case, will go under your air mattress -- where it'll make the mattress stay put, not slide around on the board), and then add the air mattress. When it's made up with bedding, it looks just like an ordinary bed and is at a good height for climbing in and getting out.If you suffer from back problems (mine were in the cervical spine), I highly recommend giving an Aerobed a try. * I've been sleeping on this as my primary mattress after returning a $1,700 Sealy mattress that was too hard. I have it sitting on top of my box springs. Once I had it adjusted to the firmness I need it holds the air very well. I might have to add 1 second of air from the built-in pump every 3-5 days but that is it. I sleep alone since I'm single and am 6'4" and 210. I have no problem with this mattress and I sleep 10X better on it than the Sealy. In fact, I am not planning on buying another mattress to replace the Sealy at this point. I am not connected with Amazon nor Aerobed but I do have another Aerobed I bought for camping with a raised pillow that I have slept on many times before with no problems. I've owned it for probably 8-10 years. Never leaks. This Extra Bed is 2 months old and I sleep extremely well on it. That's why I gave it 5 stars. Value would be 6 stars. I highly recommend this Aerobed Extra Bed with Built-in Pump. AeroBed
