Product DescriptionCamp Chef has added another great product to their propane fire pit line up, the Redwood. The Camp Chef Redwood fits nicely in between the Del Rio and their standard Propane Fire Pit with some of the features of the Del Rio and the size of the GCLOG.
Camp Chef Redwood Portable Propane Fire Pit with 4 Roasting Sticks, Black
Customer Reviews:* I got this fire pit for my husband for his birthday, after seeing a freind with one. He is like a kid in a candy store!!! Totally insane about this campfire. He uses it day and night....just like being at a campground. You can use it on grass and it doesn't affect the grass; on your deck...etc. When you go camping and fires are forbidden due to fire danger....these are ALLOWED because they are contained. AND....you don't have to worry about putting it out...just turn the dial and shut it off. It is sturdy and comes in it's own bag...at least ours did. We had a family dinner last week and for dessert we did smores...How good does it get? We will pack it around with us in our RV, so we can have a campfire ANYWHERE...ANYTIME. I don't know how much propane it uses, as my husband fills the tanks; all I can say is the enjoyment and fun are worth it. Buy this before they are gone. Got ours at Costco...no more there. Thrilled to see it on Amazon...will tell all our camping friends. * PORTABILITY: The Redwood was important to me because I wanted to use it on different parts of my patio and property and then be able to quickly store it away under a covered area on my patio when I finished using it. No problem; it feels like maybe 20 lbs which is no different than the propane tank itself (note: it is not lightweight in build quality). The 19 inch grab ring is perfect in diameter too. I almost bought the Del Rio with a 30 inch ring which would have much more difficult to rangle especially since it weighs 60 lbs. I also noted the copper bowl of the Del Rio was only paint so I did not want to give $90 more for it. The Redwood comes boxed with a supply line with regulator, and a zippered travel bag that fits like a glove to take it to the lake or other places easily. ECONOMY: I further noted the flames in the photos on Amazon of the two firepits and compared them, and as I summized the Redwood produces flames from edge to edge of the pit unlike the Del Rio. They are also very tall even on low (4-8 inches) and on medium (6-10 inches). I'm glad I made the right choice for me not to waste propane on high trying to fill a large bowl with flames like the Del Rio when I can do it on low with the Redwood. Both are rated 55,000 BTU, and from my experience with the Redwood and comparing the Del Rio pictures I've seen, I'm getting a bowl full of flames not just from the center and ton of heat. LAVA ROCKS: There are two styles supplied: red/brown, white/ash. Both come in golf ball to tennis ball sizes. I was concerned that without ceramic fire logs the pit would be less appealing, but to my enjoyment the yellow flames flicker in a magnitude that over shadows any doubt of how effective lava rocks can be. Lava rock installation is best when you place the dark ones on the bottom and the ash ones on top for more light reflection.
