Surge ProtectorCustomer Reviews:* With a family of 5 spending two weeks in France, I knew that we'd need more than just a couple plug adapters. Six plug adapters (American to European Schuko Outlet Plug Adapter - 6 Pack) in combination with 1 Universal Power Strip was perfect (VCT USP600 - Worldwide 110V / 220V / 240V Universal Power Strip / Surge Protector with 6 Universal Outlets Window Shutters & Circuit Breaker 15Amp for Use in Any Country). Together, this made keeping things charged and powered daily easy to do.We had (all dual voltage):1 laptop3 camera chargers2 cell phone chargers1 curling iron1 Nintendo DS chargerMostly, all but the curling iron worked off the Universal Power Strip. Hence that only required one of the six Schuko Outlet Plug adapters.I gave another to my wife for her curling iron and another to my son for his Nintendo DS charger for his room. When I also needed to charge my phone and use it as my alarm clock, I used a fourth in my bedroom. So I then had two spares (in case we accidentally left one somewhere in the five different places that stayed).I can't speak to its power surge protection capability or its long term durability, but it really worked out well for our two week trip. The added bonus of doing this combination is that the power strip will work in the US when I need it without an adapter. It is only as bulky as it needs to be (1.5" x 2.5" x 14", not including the cable out the end). It fit in my carry on luggage no problem and raised no issue in security. I paid $26 (including shipping) in May of 2011. * Bought this for a business trip to Israel. Using this there also required an adapter for the main plug (as the plug this comes with is not the kind used in Israel), but along with the adapter this power strip worked very well. As others have mentioned this is a bit bulky; six separate adapters would definitely be less bulk. But this power strip does allow you to plug in 6 items and only take up one wall outlet, so that's why you would get this. Also you must remember that the power this supplies is still 240V, so you must ensure that all of the things you want to plug into it are 240V compatible. I found that all of the things I wanted to plug into it were indeed both 110 & 240 compatible (laptop, iPad/iPod, cell phone charger). Just check every item beforehand for voltage compatibility and you'll find this to work well... if you can afford the space it will take up in your luggage. Surge Protector
